Free Limited Ultrasound Exam

After you've had a positive pregnancy test at Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center, a licensed medical professional will determine if you are eligible for a limited ultrasound exam. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves, which reflect off of body structures, thus allowing the computer to produce an image on a monitor. There are no known harmful effects. The exam is performed to determine an intrauterine pregnancy, estimate gestational age, and detect fetal cardiac activity. The exam is free and all your information is kept confidential.

How far along are you?

When a licensed medical professional determines that you are eligible, a limited ultrasound exam will be performed to estimate gestational age. Knowing this key information determines how far along you are in your pregnancy. This is significant to your health and your decision making process.

Ectopic Pregnancy

While normally the baby grows inside the uterus or womb, an ectopic pregnancy can be in the fallopian tube (where the egg and sperm meet), ovary, cervix, or the abdominal cavity (belly). With a limited ultrasound exam, a licensed medical professional will determine if you have an intrauterine pregnancy. If you have signs of an ectopic pregnancy, you will be referred to seek immediate medical attention.

Miscarriage

A miscarriage, known medically as a spontaneous abortion, is the loss of an unborn baby less than halfway (20 weeks) through a full-term pregnancy. A limited ultrasound exam will be performed to detect fetal cardiac activity. If you exhibit signs of a miscarriage, you will be referred to seek immediate medical attention.

Your Most Important Next Step

Having an ultrasound is the most important next step you can take if you have a positive pregnancy test. Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center understands that you need this essential information to make an informed decision. If you are considering abortion, an ultrasound will confirm the stage of your pregnancy, which can determine what abortion methods are available to you. We value your health and want to help you through the process. You are not alone. We care and we can help.
